Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mobile and Laptop Repair Technician (Levels A, B, and C) with in-depth knowledge of repair fundamentals for iPhones, Android devices, and laptops. The candidate must possess strong technical skills, including hardware diagnostics, soldering, and software troubleshooting. This role requires working both onsite at customer locations and in our retail store, blending hands-on repair work with excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Device Repair – Mobile Phones and Tablets:
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot common issues such as battery failure, charging port damage, display and touchscreen malfunctions, and camera defects for iPhones and Android devices.
    • Perform micro-soldering repairs on logic boards, such as fixing IC chips, jumpers, and replacing damaged components.
    • Conduct software diagnostics and repairs, including factory resets, OS upgrades/downgrades, boot loop resolutions, and virus/malware removal.
    • Handle water-damaged devices, assessing corrosion and implementing recovery techniques.
    • Work on unlocking and flashing firmware for devices across various manufacturers (Samsung, Huawei, LG, Apple, etc.).
  • Device Repair – Laptops:
    • Troubleshoot hardware issues such as hard drive failure, motherboard damage, and RAM upgrades.
    • Replace damaged components, including keyboards, screens, fans, and hinges.
    • Conduct operating system repairs, reinstallation, and driver updates.
    • Recover data from corrupted drives and troubleshoot BIOS-related issues.
  • Mobile Service & Customer Interaction:
    • Travel to customer locations to provide onsite repair services, adhering to scheduled appointments.
    • Ensure all tools and necessary parts are available for mobile repairs, and maintain a professional demeanor during visits.
  • Retail Customer Service:
    • Assist walk-in customers by providing accurate repair estimates and timelines.
    • Demonstrate the functionality of repaired devices and educate customers on device care.
  • Sales & Upselling:
    • Promote accessories such as screen protectors, phone cases, and charging cables to customers.
    • Recommend service plans and warranty options for repairs.
  • Inventory Management & Quality Control:
    • Maintain and organize tools, components, and repair inventory for both mobile and retail operations.
    • Perform quality assurance checks to ensure all repairs meet industry standards.

Requirements

  • Education & Certification:
    • Diploma or certification in electronics, IT, or a related field (preferred).
    • Certification in micro-soldering, Apple-certified repairs (ACMT), or Android hardware repair is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in repairing iPhones, Android devices, and laptops at varying technical levels.
    • Prior retail experience in a technical or electronics environment is required.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced knowledge of iOS and Android ecosystems, including their hardware and software architecture.
    • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware failures, including diagnosing logic board issues and using testing tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and software diagnostic tools.
    • Familiarity with repair tools like heat guns, rework stations, and ultrasonic cleaners.
    • Ability to perform repairs on flagship devices (e.g., iPhone 16 Series, Samsung Galaxy S24 Series) and legacy models.
  • Customer Service Skills:
    • Excellent communication skills to explain technical issues to non-technical customers in a friendly and clear manner.
    • Professional demeanor and ability to manage customer expectations regarding repair timelines and outcomes.
  • Other Requirements:
    • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel to customer locations.
    • Ability to travel within Scarborough and the surrounding area for onsite services.
    • Physically capable of standing for extended periods and handling light to medium loads.
